Taboun

Archaeological Tabun - Late Roman/Early Byzantine - Yarmouk University

A Late Roman / Early Byzantine Tabun

This discovered Tabun (clay oven) is a unique artifact reflecting aspects of daily life in ancient Jordan, dating back to the 4th century AD (the Late Roman and Early Byzantine period).

This significant archaeological feature was excavated in the Necropolis of Abila (Quwaylibah - Hartha), specifically in Area (J), during the field excavations conducted by the Department of Anthropology at Yarmouk University in the 2021 season.

"The Tabun is displayed in the museum with its preserved structural details, standing as a witness to traditional food production techniques and the continuity of cultural heritage through the ages."
