A delegation from Yarmouk University—including Dr. Ahmed Abu Baker (Vice Dean of the Faculty of Archaeology and Anthropology), Dr. Abdullah Al-Rawabdeh (Vice Dean of the Faculty of Science), and Dr. Mohammad Al-Qudah (Head of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences)—visited the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) on Thursday, February 5, 2026, to explore prospects for joint cooperation.
The delegation was received by Dr. Rafat Ahmed (Chief Executive Officer of the Central Testing Laboratories and Standards Sector), Dr. Dia Al-Safadi (Director of the Industrial Research Center), Mr. Mohammad Abu Othman (Acting Director of Chemical Science Laboratories), and Mr. Yassin Janem from the Chemical Science Laboratories.
During the meeting, the Yarmouk University delegation provided an overview of the academic programs in the Faculties of Archaeology and Science, their available laboratories, and research interests that form a suitable foundation for future collaboration. In turn, Dr. Rafat Ahmed provided a summary of the RSS’s operations and its various units, which include chemical and engineering laboratories, calibration services, industrial research, and sustainable development fields (studies, construction, and environment).
The delegation took a field tour of several scientific laboratories at the RSS, where they were briefed on the advanced technical capabilities and the mechanisms for conducting specialized tests.
The Director of the Industrial Research Center introduced the center's role in providing specialized services to the food, pharmaceutical, and industrial sectors. He highlighted the potential for collaborative projects with the university, utilizing the RSS's analytical facilities.
The delegation was also introduced to the Building Research Center, which provides technical and engineering consultations. This center’s expertise is particularly relevant to the archaeology and heritage sector, as demonstrated by their ongoing technical consultation regarding the causes of the wall collapse at Al-Karak Castle.
The visit concluded with an emphasis on strengthening the partnership between the two institutions and following up on the proposed cooperation opportunities to benefit students and researchers while supporting applied scientific research.
