Q1: Is the student is obliged to abide by the proposed plan of study in five years?

The student is not obliged to do so. But he prefers to stick out, because the plan was developed based Al practical study of the capabilities of students and their sequence of ideas they have during the courses studies, and therefore, the freedom of the student to choose a particular course that is not included in the proposed plan may place him/her in misunderstanding or wrong awareness for some concepts.
 

 

 

Q2: Is it advisable to take the major courses during the summer seasons?

No, it is not recommended, because the summer semester is short and successive, so the student can't be able study very well through it. In addition the weak knowledge of any major courses is a negative impact on the following courses.
 

 

 

Q3: How can the student raise the academic outcome in spite of a large number of courses and associated laboratories?

The continuous monitoring of any course is the key to excellence. This reveals any confusion or poor understanding in the early time before configuring any misconceptions. Also, linking course content with the related laboratory has a significant role in facilitating the understanding of the lab and course together and increases the absorption of the student for them.
 

 

 

Q4: What is the university academic calendar?

The university calendar clarifies the dates of the academic activities at the university, such as the start and end of the semesters, and the dates of final exams and the days of official holidays.
 

 

 

Q5:What is the University ID? What does it show?

It is a unique number for each student. It shows the academic year and semester when the student was admitted to the university.
 

 

 

Q6:What is the academic year?

The academic year is defined as two regular semesters (first and second), and one optional semester (summer). The duration of the regular first and second semesters is (16) weeks, and the duration of the summer semester is (8) weeks at a minimum.
 

 

 

Q7:What is the Credit Hour?

The credit hour is a weight for the course. For example, if the course is three credit hours, it means that the student attends a lecture of three hours per week throughout the regular semester.
 

 

 

Q8:What is the study plan?

It is a list of courses that the student must finish to complete the requirements for obtaining a university degree (bachelor). It consists of: mandatory and optional requirements of the university, and the mandatory and optional requirements of the college, and mandatory and optional requirements of the department/major.
 

 

 

Q9:What are the basement exams? (for undergraduate students)?

Each newcomer student has to take three basement exams during the first year from the date of joining the university, in the following subjects: Arabic, English, and Computer Skills. The objective of these exams is to determine the student's level in these courses. If the student passed these exams, he/she will be exempted from the study of the deficiency courses. The weight of each course is (3) credit hours, and it will not be counted towards the study plan.
 

 

 

Q10:What are the e-services?

It is a set of services provided by the university to students electronically, through the website of the university. It allows the students to perform many of the procedures electronically, including electronic registration, in addition to the access to academic and financial statements, payment systems and students e-mail, and electronic libraries.
 

 

 

Q11:How do I register for my semester?

By using the registration services available at the university website (yu.edu.jo) where the student enters the university ID number and password (you can get this password from the computer center). For the student who cannot register through electronic registration services because of low cumulative GPA, he/she should visit the Admission and Registration Unit to complete the registration process.
 

 

Q13:What is the pre-requisite course?

It is the course that students should pass before taking the subsequent course.
 

 

 

Q14:What happens if I do not attend my lectures?

If you miss more than 15% of the total number of lectures, without an acceptable excuse, you will be deprived from the course.

Yes, it is permissible and you can visit the admission and registration unit at the university to learn the necessary instructions.
 

Q18: Where can I do my hobbies?

Students can practice cultural, sports and artistic hobbies through the activities organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs.
